So much potential – Peaches

Yesterday, our Whole Foods had a one-day special on “Regional Peaches” from Georgia. $.79/lb or $18 for a case. I checked them out over lunch. By “checked them out” my general rules to smell as many as you can. They should immediately smell peachy, and they should be firm, but not hard to the touch. I guess the 2nd stipulation has some flex depending on your use.

I started researching peach recipes this morning, and I could have started a separate Pinboard for all the recipes I found. Peach Gelato. Peach Lemonade. Peach Tea. A million and one peach jams. Peach Pie Filling – canned. Peach Tart. Grilled Peaches. Peaches poached in wine. Peach Salsa. Peach Chutney. Peach Fuzzies (huh?). The requisite peach pie, peach cobbler, peach cake.

I think I’ve narrowed it down to some good starting points:

Peach and cornmeal upside-down cake

Peach dumplings

Peach gelato

Habanero peach jam

Peach chutney

And these two have been pinned for awhile now – but it’s definitely time
Peach rosemary jam

Texas peach pickles Mine will be Georgia peach pickles? Or maybe Tennessee peach pickles since I’m pickling in TN.

Not necessarily in that order. πŸ™‚

    • Peach sorbet! Yumm! Peach gelato was on my list, but that will have to wait for the next case. We apparently have a peach-loving gnome who carts off 2 or so a day. πŸ™‚
