First Taste of Fermented Pickle

After about 5 days, the anticipation was too great. I sliced into Mr. Dill Weed to taste. The pickle was brined all the way through. There was definitely some sour action happening.

What was odd for me was the fizzy taste. I wasn’t expecting that. There was a distinctive bubbly feel. As a co-worker tried to imagine it yesterday, “like pop rocks and pickles…”

Yes, exactly like that. Our indoor temps are warmer than recommended. Part of that research I mentioned not doing earlier this week. I put both jars in the fridge and plan to have another taste later today to see if the cold eliminated the fizz.
